John was born January 27, 1924 in Hague, Saskatchewan. His parents,John and Anna (nee Schönfeld) Neudorf had emigrated from Russia in August of 1923. In the spring of 1924 his father purchased a farm in the Osler district where John grew up. John attended Embury School until 1939.
When World War II broke out, John worked on farms in the Dundurn area in the summer and in lumber camps in Saskatchewan for several winters.
In 1947 he went to British Columbia to look for work. There he found employment in a plywood plant until the summer of 1949 when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He returned to Saskatoon and was admitted to the Sanatorium where he was patient until November 1953. He spent 24 months of that time in a body cast. After being discharged he remained with his parents on their farm until 1955.
He attended Business College in Saskatoon for one year after which he found employment at the University of Saskatchewan in the Purchasing Department.
On June 8, 1957 John married Marlies Warkentin. They had two sons - Mark born in 1958 and Michael in 1961.
In July of 1965 John accepted a position at the University of Regina campus where he remained as the university’s Purchasing Officer until his retirement in 1988.
John’s first wife Marlies died in 1985. In 1987, he married Tina Bartsch. After his retirement they returned to Saskatoon and lived there until moving to Pineview Manor at the Mennonite Nursing Home in Rosthern. Tina passed away in 2011. John continued to live at Pineview until October 2016 when he moved to the Selo Gardens Personal Care Home in Regina.
John kept a positive outlook on life even during difficult times. He enjoyed travelling - going on many family vacations as well as tours to the U.S.A. and Europe. He also enjoyed camping and outings to the lake. John seemed to be able to fix just about anything - and he often would rather than going out and buying something new. He always enjoyed a good game of cribbage and was able to score a hand without even counting it. His hobbies included stamp collecting and crosswords, which he continued to do even at the age of 93. He had the ability to make friends easily - leaving a good and lasting impression on everyone he met. Most of all John will be remembered for his love for his family.
