Beulah Fernando

Beulah Fernando, 83, of Regina passed away February 2, 2023. She was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka to James and Malathi Samuel on September 3, 1939.

Beulah was educated in Sri Lanka and England.  Beulah furthered her studies in Minot, North Dakota and obtained a degree in Speech Pathology.  She initially worked as a Speech and Language Pathologist for the Regina Catholic School Board and later, for the Regina Public School Board until her retirement.  Following her retirement, Beulah worked on a contract basis in schools north of Regina.

Beulah was passionate about her work with children who needed extra help with speech and language.  She generously donated her time with the India Canada Association serving as Vice President and Treasurer.  She was a volunteer board member for the Immigrant Women’s Centre and the Multi Lingual Association of Regina.

The Canadian University Women’s Group was also extremely important to Beulah.  She volunteered both locally and internationally for about 30 years.  During many of those years, she chaired the National Scholarship Committee.

When the Gospel came to Beulah’s auntie and family in India, they asked the ministers in Sri Lanka to visit Beulah’s family.  They eagerly accepted the Gospel into their lives and home.  Beulah was 12 when she made her choice to follow Jesus.  She was faithful all her life until she passed away.

Beulah was predeceased by her parents, James and Malathi Samuel, husband, Prosper Fernando, brother, Dr. Frank Samuel and adopted brother, Sebastian “Mani” Jebamelai.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Fernando, of London, England, her sister-in-law and nephew, Ruth and Jonathan Samuel, of Honolulu, Hawaii, several cousins and many dear friends.

Beulah’s ashes will be taken to Hawaii and interred with her mother, brother and Mani.

Beulah will be missed very much!
