Obituary of Vera Ruth Triggs

TRIGGS, VERA (nee Pettigrew) passed away, in hospital, on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the age of 86 years. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Gertrude; her husband Ray; brothers, Norm (Alice), Roy and Russ; sisters, Lillian, Elsie, Edna and Gladys (OHara); and nephew, Ron Pettigrew. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Adena Pettigrew (Medicine Hat) and Yvonne Pettigrew (Regina); brother-in-law, George OHara (Hillsboro, Oregon); long time friend, Phyllis Chisholm; niece and "business manager (as Vera called her), Patti (Tony) Kuffner; as well as many other nieces and nephews and their families. Vera was born in Lumsden on April 14, 1918. She attended Normal School, and received her B. Ed. In 1965. She had a long career of teaching in Glenavon, Swift Current and Regina, and was also principal for many years, retiring in June of 1973 from Crescent School. Vera was an honourary life member of the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan. She spent some of her retirement in her home town of Lumsden before moving back to Regina. She married Ray Triggs in 1986, but sadly they only had a few years together before he passed away. Vera enjoyed life to the fullest, and only in the last three years did her health fail her and necessitate her move into a care home. The family thanks Helping Hands Personal Care Home and Pioneer Village for their excellent care of Vera in her last years. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Those wishing to, may make a donation in her name, to a charity of their choice. Arrangements in care of Speers Funeral Chapel and Crematorium Services. Condolences to the family may be emailed to
