Obituary of Mary Alison Fowke

FOWKE - On October 2, 2005 Mary Alison Fowke, age 74, late of Regina. Survived by her loving husband Vern, daughter Carol and son-in-law David Ryan, Unity, Sask., son Kenneth and daughter-in-law Kelly McKeekin Fowke, Ottawa, daughter Margery Fowke and son-in-law Bill Bingham, Calgary, five grandchildren Christine, Erin and Alison Ryan and Scott and Michael Bingham, and three sisters, Margery Forgay, (Frank Guenther) Mesachie Lake, B.C., Barbara (Brij) Mathur, Winfield, B.C., and Charlotte (John) Clark, Seattle and sister-in-law Audrey Hales, Edmonton. Mary was born in Rosetown, Sask., and soon moved with her family to Saskatoon where she received her education. Mary and Vern were married in 1952 and lived in Assiniboia, Moose Jaw, Weyburn and Regina. A long time member of Sunset United Church, she served as a youth group leader in the church and also as Guardian of Bethel #14 Job's Daughters. Mary was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Prairie Rose Chapter #74 of the Order of Eastern Star at Weyburn. She served the Red Cross in many ways and was Saskatchewan President from 1989 to 1991 and a National Board Member. She was a member of the MacKenzie Gallery Volunteers, serving as President in 1986 - 1988 and as a docent since 1978. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005, 1:00 PM at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make a donation to Canadian Red Cross Society, Southern Saskatchewan Region, 100 - 2050 Cornwall St., Regina, S4P 2K5, or South Saskatchewan Community Foundation, (Mary & Vern Fowke Fund), #2 - 2700 Montague St., Regina, S4S 0J9, or to the charity of their choice.
