Obituary of Lawrence Adams

OCTOBER 12, 1931 – SEPTEMBER 15, 2017

We are sad to announce the passing of Larry Adams.  He was predeceased by his younger brother Teddy and parents Ted and Irene Adams.  Larry is survived by his loving wife and partner of nearly 62 years Donna (nee Collard); son Scot (Shevawn) and daughter Carla (Glen) Edwards; five grandchildren Warren and Lindsay Edwards, Morgan, Victoria and Joshua Adams; brother-in-law Bill (Helene) Wilmart-Collard; sister-in-law Pearl Collard and many nieces and nephews. Larry was born in Toronto and spent his childhood in southern Ontario. He joined the Canadian Forces (Army) in 1951 and within a year was deployed to Korea during the Korean War.  After marrying Donna in 1955, the family lived in Barrie ON, Wainwright AB, Soest Germany and Calgary AB.  During his military career he served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in Egypt (twice) and Cyprus.  Retiring for the Armed Forces after 25 years, Larry joined the executive staff of Scouts Canada in 1976 where he served in Calgary, Acton and Regina.  He retired from Scouts and then spent the next 16 summers working as a golf marshal at TorHill Golf Course in Regina. Larry was a great volunteer and worked with many organizations in that capacity.  He was very involved with the Korean War Veterans’ Association and served as its president for many years. Both Donna and Larry loved to travel and had many remarkable trips together before his health slowed him down. Larry will be deeply missed by many. A Celebration of Larry’s Life will take place at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Ave, Regina SK on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Special thanks to the staff in CSU at the Regina General Hospital and the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, William Booth Special Care Home for the loving care received. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alpha K9 Canada, 414 10B Street, Box 707, Nobleford, Alberta, T0L 1S0.
